Safe Drinking Water & Hygiene Promotion Project
Friends Foundation is also working on hygiene promotion. Hygiene promotion and safe drinking water projectwas started with the collaboration of ABT Associates through the funding of USAID. The objective of the project is to improve the health standards of population by increasing the knowledge and awareness of the community about the importance of safe drinking water and also to build the technical and management capacities of the local Government Representatives & communities to safely maintain and operate water treatment systems as well as to promote positive hygiene practices in order to reduce the water borne diseases. The project is operational in three tehsils of Rawalpindi i.e, Taxila, Rawal Town & Photohar Town and District Gujrat tehsils Sara-e-Alamgir, Kharian and Gujrat . Development of a sustainable system in safe drinking water provision is another indirect objective of the project. The overall goal of the project is to reduce the death rate in children under 05 years of age due to diarrhea.
